Best Zinc Fertilizer for Alkaline Soils: Sulphate, EDTA or Liquid?
A large share of cultivated land in Pakistan sits on alkaline to calcareous soils, where high pH and free calcium carbonate cause applied zinc to quickly convert into forms plants can't absorb โ which is why zinc deficiency remains one of the most persistent micronutrient issues in the region.

Chelated zinc EDTA resists this lock-up far better, making it a reliable option for a faster correction or for high-value crops where waiting a season for soil-applied zinc to take full effect isn't acceptable.
Liquid zinc, like our Scotch (Zn 10%), sits in between โ it's absorbed quickly through foliage or in fertigation systems and is easy to combine with other spray-tank inputs, making it a practical rescue option for alkaline fields showing deficiency symptoms mid-season.
For most farms, the most cost-effective long-term strategy is a base zinc sulphate program every season, with chelated or liquid zinc used selectively where symptoms appear despite the soil application.
